Leonardo DiCaprio: Climate Change
For years now, Leonardo DiCaprio has been pushing our society to realize that climate change is a real threat. It is a problem that our world is finally noticing. Scientists have been warnings u for decades but our world has just seemed to ignore it. Until voices like DiCaprio have come and spoken out about these issues. Gayle King, the CBS interviewer makes a good point saying, "I have the feeling that this isn't just a celebrity thing for you. It's not just a cause that you feel, you have to be involved in." With the involvement DiCaprio has had in climate change though the years and seeing that he has an upcoming documentary coming out over these issues, I can see that it's not just a cause he feels he needs to be apart of.
With this interview being on CBS it has probably reached an older audience. Which is the exact audience I think he wanted to reach most right now. Yet, everyone who watched the 2016 Oscars saw DiCaprio's speech he gave after winning the oscars and how he told the world that climate change is real. In my mind, because of his involvement and various interviews he has been apart of, DiCaprio has reached all audiences on climate change.
DiCaprio was able to tell everyone that climate change is the biggest threat our entire world is effected by. He tells us that it is us humans that are destroying this world and its our job to fix it. The thing is, if we all realize what the problem is, and realize that we can actually do something to fix it, then change can happen.
With DiCaprio being my favorite actor, this only enhances my perception of him. To see such an important, sell made actor care about an issue that matters so much to our world is a big deal to me. I think he wants people to see he cares so much about this issue. I always knew DiCaprio as a very, very good actor but I never saw the personal side of him. So to repeat, this has only enhanced my view of him.
